Build Your Own Agentic CFO: The Benji Pays Open API and MCP Server

Benji Pays is opening its API and Model Context Protocol (MCP) server in Beta, giving customers a way to connect the AI tools and agents of their choice directly to their Benji Pays data.

The goal is not to give you another chatbot.

It is to give you the building blocks to create something much more useful: your own agentic chief financial officer (CFO).

Benji Pays automates invoice follow-up, online payments, and reconciliation for managed service providers (MSPs) and invoice-based businesses. The less time you spend chasing accounts receivable, reconciling payments, or digging through financial data, the more time you can spend serving customers, growing your business, and sharpening your expertise.

That same philosophy shaped how we approached AI.

More than another AI feature

When we started thinking about AI for Benji Pays customers, we realised we did not want to build a closed chatbot or bolt on a one-purpose agent.

We wanted to build AI the way we would use it ourselves.

The Benji Pays MCP server and open API are in Beta. They let participating customers connect their financial data to the AI tools, models, agents, and workflows that make the most sense for their business.

That might mean analysing receivables, creating custom reports, identifying cash flow risks, or combining Benji Pays data with information from your accounting system, professional services automation (PSA) platform, customer relationship management (CRM) system, payroll platform, or other tools.

Ultimately, this gives you the foundation to build an agent that understands your financial position and helps you decide what to do next.

What does that look like in practice?

Customers have been testing this functionality over the past couple of months, and they are already building interesting things with it.

One is Sean Kubin of Standard Computer in Little Rock, Arkansas, a managed IT provider specialising in the dental industry.

Sean has built what is essentially a virtual C-suite of AI agents for his business, so he was eager to connect his agentic CFO to Benji Pays.

One of his builds uses Benji Pays data to forecast how much cash the business can expect to receive each day based on upcoming invoices.

Combined with upcoming payables, that gives Sean a detailed view of his short-term cash position.

It helps him make sure there is enough cash available for payroll, plan the timing of project expenses, and reduce unnecessary interest on a line of credit used to manage short-term cash flow gaps.

More importantly, his CFO agent does not just report what is happening. It can identify potential risks and recommend what Sean should consider doing next.

That is the bigger opportunity.

From data to financial intelligence

Benji Pays already holds valuable information about invoices, payments, customers, receivables, and cash flow.

The open API and MCP server give Beta participants a new way to put that information to work.

These are not simply two more features in Benji Pays. They are a pathway to building your own financial intelligence layer.

Connect the AI agent of your choice. Give it access to the right data. Build workflows around the way your business operates.

Then put your agentic CFO to work.

Because the goal is not AI for the sake of AI.

It is helping you become outstanding at financial management.
